Teaching & Writing


In 1990 Richy completed a Bachelor of Education (BEd Honours) Degree at Goldsmith’s College (London University). Richy has always enjoyed working as a teacher and mentor and despite spending much of his career as a music professional he has a vast knowledge and experience of the education system.

As an accomplished writer Richy released his book ‘Making Beats‘ (Published by Cengage Learning) in March of 2013. The book teaches students how to make infectious beats from editing drums, to programming, sequencing and mastering beats, using a broad range of Digital, Audio Workstations (DAWS) including Logic, Cubase and Reason.

Since it’s release Richy has used the book to run a number of workshops (in and out of schools) based on the subject, including a master class at the Apple Store in Regents St.

Combining his 20 year teaching, workshop and published writing experience, Richy has been organising and running independent, bespoke music tech lessons, workshops & master classes while continuing to work for inspiring music led organisations such as Camden Music Service and the newly formed Big Creative Education.

Richy is able to confidently teach Music Technology to all age groups from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 5 (including BTEC Level 3) backing up course work with 2 decades of rich music industry experience.
